![]() Once I switched to Blender, I had no desire to switch back to anything else. I actually prefer Blender to Cinema 4D for 95% of the workflow I tend to use. If you check in once a day, you’ll eventually catch it on sale for between 10-15 dollars. It’s the corse I used to learn Blender’s specific UI and tools. Blender and other 3D suites can do that too, but Substance is specialized and has more and better Udemy corse is comprehensive, detailed, and well structured. Substance isn’t used for modeling, but for texturing (coloring/painting) existing models. Blender’s comparable software to any other 3D production suite. I used Cinema 4D professionally for about ten years, but switched to Blender for my own projects when I left the job I had. Somebody else mentioned learning on Blender and this really is the best idea. That's not based on any information i've seen, just my dumb instinct. But my gut feeling says by the time you're ready for it, Adobe will have absorbed Substance's features into Photoshop and dropped support for it anyway. If you eventually hit a wall where you need extra features - then definitely explore Substance. Photoshop will do everything you'll need at this point. ![]() You're just beginning your 3D journey, so when you start getting into texturing, stick with creating textures in Photoshop for now (since you probably know that pretty well already as a graphic designer). So it's as if Adobe doesn't quite yet know what to do with it. The other curious thing about Substance is that it isn't part of Adobe's Creative Cloud. It doesn't animate, and you can't build models in it, but it's dumbed down designed for graphic design peeps / workflows. It's a great tool for mocking up 3D renders of products with your designed 2D labels on them.Īnd by 'great' I mean it's for people who don't know how to use 3D software. You might be thinking of Adobe Dimension.
